Get the launcher
This is the only thing you need. It installs the game, keeps it updated and gets you on the realm.

Getting set up
- Run the installer. Windows will probably say the publisher is unknown. That's just because we haven't paid for code signing yet. Click More info, then Run anyway. If you want to be extra careful, compare the SHA-256 above with the file you got.
- Make an account on the sign-in screen. We'll email you a code, then you pick a password.
- Hit Install. The game's about 36 GB, so grab a snack. It downloads from Cloudflare, so it'll go as fast as your internet can handle, and if you stop it, it picks right back up later. Going slow? Here's what usually fixes it.
- Hit Play. Done. The launcher connects the game to the realm for you.
Download going slow?
Usually your internet speed is the only limit. The launcher shows you the speed and roughly how long is left. If it's crawling along at a few MB/s and your internet is way faster than that, it's almost always one of these two things.
1. Install to an SSD inside your PC
USB drives and old spinning hard drives are slow at writing this much data, so they end up being the bottleneck instead of your internet.
2. Tell Windows Defender to skip the game folder
Defender checks every file as it gets written. It's way less of a deal than it used to be, but on a slower drive it can still drag things out. Here's how to skip it:
- Press Start, type Windows Security and open it.
- Go to Virus & threat protection.
- Under "Virus & threat protection settings", click Manage settings.
- Scroll down to Exclusions and click Add or remove exclusions.
- Click Add an exclusion → Folder → pick the folder you are installing into.
Just the game folder, nothing else. Not your whole drive, not Downloads. This step is optional, and the install works fine without it.
What you'll need
- Windows 10 or 11.
- About 45 GB of free space on whatever drive you install to.
- That's it. The launcher grabs everything else.
